Behind every big vision is a real life. For Meghna Deshraj, that real life includes two children, a thriving portfolio of companies, and a community of women she is shaping one conversation at a time. Here, she gets personal.
You are a mother of two. How much does motherhood shape the leader and the community builder you are today?
More than anything else, honestly. When you become a mother, you see the world through a completely different lens. You start thinking about the future in a way that is not abstract. It is personal. It is: what kind of world am I leaving for my children? For my daughter? And that question drives everything. Club Mamabee is partly my answer to that question. I want to build a world where ambitious women are celebrated, not penalized. Where a mother who builds a business during nap time is a hero, not an anomaly.
How do you manage the balance? The businesses, the community, the family?
I gave up on ‘balance’ a long time ago and found something better: intention. Every day, I make intentional choices about where my energy goes. Some days the business gets everything and the house is chaos. Some days I put everything down and I am just a mom. The guilt used to be overwhelming. Now I have learned to trust myself. I know what my children need from me. I know what my businesses need from me. And I have stopped trying to give everyone 100% at the same time because that math doesn’t work. What works is showing up fully in each role when you are in it.
What do you want your children to learn from watching you?
That you are never too old to start something. That failure is part of the story, not the end of it. And that the most powerful thing you can do in this world is build something that serves others. I tell them: your first paycheck, invest it in something. Your first opportunity, take it. Your first instinct, trust it. I want them to be brave in the way I had to learn to be brave.
What does the Mamabee community mean to you personally, not just professionally?
It is my home. It sounds simple but it is the most accurate thing I can say. I built this community because I needed it. And now, every time I see a woman find her footing inside it, every time I see two women connect at one of our events and you can almost see the spark of possibility between them, I remember why I started. This is not just a business. This is a purpose.
Final thought for the woman who feels like she is doing it all alone?
You don’t have to be. That is literally what Club Mamabee was built to fix. Come to mamabee.com. Come to an event. Send a message. We will meet you exactly where you are.
